Kate Burnett — Certified Veterinary Technician

Kate joined the AHS team in Oct of 2010. Originally from W. Michigan, Kate moved to Phoenix almost 10 years ago. She was a 4.0 student, class rep and ambassador at Anthem College. She has obtained her associates degree in April of 2012 for her CVT. Kate completed her Veterinary Nutritional Advocacy (VNA) in May of 2011.

She has 2 cats and an ever-changing array of rescue dogs she fosters for “Poverty’s Pets.” Just in the last year she has placed 8 dogs into their new forever homes.

Barbara Kellander — Certified Veterinary Technician

Barbara has been working in the veterinary field since 2013. She attended Pierpont Community & Technical Collage in Fairmont, WV and graduated in May 2013 with an A.A.S. in veterinary technology. She passed her VTNE in August of 2013 and became an RVT in WV. She moved to Arizona in 2014 and became a CVT in the winter of 2014.

She has always loved animals and can’t imagine life without them. She loves to spend time with her family and 2 rescue dogs; Loula her Corgi/Heeler Mix and Titus her Great Dane. *Who rescued who*

Allison Maynard — Certified Veterinary Technician

Allison joined Animal Health Services in 2013. After 6+ years in pet retail building and a strong foundation in dog training, pet nutrition, management and exotics care, she switched gears and pursued a more fulfilling career in veterinary medicine. She completed her Veterinary Nutritional Advocate certificate in 2014 and is currently pursuing an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology for her CVT.

Raised in Tucson, AZ she became a Cave Creek resident in 2011. Her lifelong passion is horses; particularly three-day eventing. She has 15+ years experience riding, training and completing. She shares her home with her brilliant but cheeky Australian Shepherd “Sahara” and her not so brilliant Catahoula/Husky Sidekick “Beau Duke.”

Nancy Marcin — Veterinary Technician

Nancy has been a member of the AHS team since September of 2004, and has worked in the veterinary field for almost 15 years. Along with her husband and son, she shares her home with 1 dog, 1 cat, a desert tortoise, and some fish. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, and reading with her son. Nancy has always wanted to work with animals, and she left a career of over 22 years to pursue her dream. She enjoys the challenges that come with the job, and is currently pursuing her CVT license.

Pam Welsh — Veterinary Assistant

We welcomed Pam to the Animal Health Services team in May of 2008. Her family includes her husband, her son and her 2 dogs, Shelby and Mindy. She is originally from San Diego and enjoys going back to visit friends and family there. She loves spending time with her family going to the beach, taking the boat out to the lake and just enjoying the water, sun, and fun that Arizona summers bring.

Paige Fredrickson — Veterinary Assistant

Paige Fredrickson has been working in the veterinary industry since 2014. She attended Carrington College and obtained her Veterinary Assistant certificate. She has two dogs, Jimmy her Pitbull and Lambeau her Lab Mix.

Madison Newman — Veterinary Assistant

Hi I’m Madison I am a certified Vet Assistant and I came to Animal health services in early 2016. I got my certification at Carrington College and also have an Associates degree from Paradise Valley Community College. I have a 5-year-old Yorkie-Chihuahua mix also known as a Chorkie named Gus. I got him when he was just 8 weeks old and he’s been my buddy ever since. He is super active and loves to play frisbee. I have always had a love for animals and being in the Veterinary field is always what I have aspired to do as a career. It is a field with many different aspects of opportunity and It is always a joy to come to work and help people and the 4 legged family members that they love.

Lauren Hoover — Veterinary Assistant

Lauren is a Veterinary Assistant who has been with Animal Health Services since 2015. She started here as a kennel tech and has worked her way up in the Urgent Care department. She is now attending school to earn her degree in veterinary technology and become a Certified Veterinary Technician. Lauren has previous experience in large animals from working with horse trainers and equine dentists and has three dogs of her own named Shadow, Nala, and Waffles. She someday hopes to open a rescue to rehabilitate dogs who have been deemed aggressive and need some extra time, love, and care before being able to find a forever home.

Hannah Moncrief – Kennel Assistant

Hannah joined the AHS team in April of 2019. She spent four years attending AAEC-PV participating in their Veterinary Science program. Through the program she took four veterinary classes, including “Introduction to Veterinary Science”, “Animal Anatomy and Physiology”, “Animal Diseases”, and clinicals. Hannah also had the exciting opportunity to take a veterinary trip to South Africa. Outside of the schools program, she also worked as an intern at the Spinal Motors Systems Laboratory at Barrow Neurological Institute. While working there, Hannah also worked full-time to train a mobility service dog through the AAEC Service Dog Training Program. All of these experiences helped her to grow in animal education, and ultimately inspired her to achieve her dream of working in a veterinary career.

Karen Molina – Kennel Assistant

Cheyenne Summers – Kennel Assistant

Cheyenne joined the Animal Health Services team in 2019. She has a personal background with animals and has extensive experience with her own pets having owned many different animals from cats and dogs to horses and cows. She is currently in the process of obtaining her Veterinary Assisting Certificate, and can’t wait to help save animals’ lives. Cheyenne also loves to see clients leave with a smile on their face!
