Kate Dial, CVT
Kate joined the AHS team in Oct of 2010. Originally from W. Michigan, Kate moved to Phoenix almost 2 years ago. She was a 4.0 student, class rep and ambassador at Anthem College. She has obtained her associates degree in April of 2012 for her CVT. Kate completed her Veterinary Nutritional Advocacy (VNA) in May of 2011.
She has 2 cats and an ever-changing array of rescue dogs she fosters for “Poverty’s Pets.” Just in the last year she has placed 8 dogs into their new forever homes.
Barbara Hendry, CVT
Barbara has been working in the veterinary field since 2013. She attended Pierpont Community & Technical Collage in Fairmont, WV and graduated in May 2013 with an A.A.S. in veterinary technology. She passed her VTNE in August of 2013 and became an RVT in WV. She moved to Arizona in 2014 and became a CVT in the winter of 2014.
She has always loved animals and can’t imagine life without them. She loves to spend time with her family and 2 rescue dogs; Loula her Corgi/Heeler Mix and Titus her Great Dane. *Who rescued who*
Becca Counter, CVT
Becca joined the AHS team in January of 2017. Originally from Illinois, she attended Jolliet Junior College and also studied to earn her Certified Veterinary Technician Licensure. Additionally, Becca is a Certified Dog Trainer. She has spent 7 years working as a tech, and she states that animals are her most favorite thing ever! She shares her home with 5 pet tortoises.
Nancy has been a member of the AHS team since September of 2004, and has worked in the veterinary field for almost 6 years. Along with her husband and son, she shares her home with 1 dog, 1 cat, a desert tortoise, and some fish. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, and reading with her son. Nancy has always wanted to work with animals, and she left a career of over 22 years to pursue her dream. She enjoys the challenges that come with the job, and is currently pursuing her CVT license.
Paige obtained her Associates Degree in 2013 in animal science from Anthem College. She will soon be sitting for her board exams to obtain her CVT certification. Emergency medicine is her passion and she is always striving to give the best care possible to the patients. Paige is also a part time groom at an eventing show barn, Carefree Farms.
Animals have always been a passion of Paige’s and she believes it is our job to give them the voice they lack, but deserve. She has 2 dogs; a 3yr old GSH named “Serenity” who is the princess of the house and “Pickles,” an eight month old mix breed who was Paige’s patient prior to adoption. She is now the boss of the house. She also has an 11 yr old off the track thoroughbred named “Charlie.” He was her jumper but is now retired enjoying lazy days.
I have been in the field for 6 years. I take a special liking to veterinary dermatology. I’ve always had a love for animals, and have only worked in the veterinary field. I have three amazing children and a pit bull named Hades. We rescued Hades 1 year ago from an abusive home, and she’s been our best friend since then.
In June of 2017, we welcomed Christina to the AHS team. Originally from Albuquerque, NM, she attended Brown Mackie College and acquired her Associates of Applied Science Degree, She has been a veterinary technician for eight years. Her background focuses on specialty surgery, and she has worked with many Boarded Surgeons in the fields of neurology, ophthalmology, dentistry, and orthopedics. After eight years Christina realized something was missing and made the transfer to a daytime, general practice where she can have the ability to build client relationships. She moved to Phoenix in March of 2017 from Albuquerque and absolutely loves it here. Her two pups love it here as well…… minus the heat, which takes some getting used to.
Calynn Simpson, Technical Assistant
Caylnn joined the Animal Health Services team in 2016 having been working in the veterinary field for Caylnn joined the Animal Health Services team in 2016 having been working in the veterinary field for the past decade. Born and raised in Arizona she recently moved back after 3 years in Georgia. Recently married to her best friend and former US Marine Officer in the Virgin Islands.
She has experience in exotic animals having been a former zookeeper-in-training allowing her to get experience in reptiles, marsupials, birds, rodents & a variety of non fish aquatics.
She holds a degree in Wildlife Forestry Conservation from Penn Foster and is currently completing her certified Veterinary Technology degree by the beginning of 2017 with the desire to work for exotic zoos. She has taken the Emergency Animal Medical Technician class with the “Heroes of Phoenix” from Animal Planet TV. She has a Shiba Inu mix named “Sirena”, who is obsessed with piggy toys and a Giant Day Gecko named “Gary”.
We welcomed Pam to the Animal Health Services team in May of 2008. Her family includes her husband, her son and her 2 dogs, Shelby and Mindy. She is originally from San Diego, and enjoys going back to visit friends and family there. She loves spending time with her family going to the beach, taking the boat out to the lake and just enjoying the water, sun and fun that Arizona summers bring.
Jess Dunteman, Technician Assistant
I am originally from Southern California and moved to Phoenix 5 years ago. I’m currently in the process of completing my associate’s degree for the CVT program at Penn Foster. I’m an avid animal lover and have spent years volunteering for animal rescue groups in both California and Arizona, and I am the proud cat-mom to a group of 5 of the craziest cats I’ve ever known – all of whom are rescues!
Paige Fredrickson has been working in the veterinary industry since 2014. She attended Carrington College and obtained her Veterinary Assistant certificate. She has two dogs, Jimmy her Pitbull and Lambeau her Lab Mix.
Hi I’m Madison I am a certified Vet Assistant and I came to Animal health services in early 2016. I got my certification at Carrington College and also have an Associates degree from Paradise Valley Community College. I have a 5 year old Yorkie-Chihuahua mix also known as a Chorkie named Gus. I got him when he was just 8 weeks old and he’s been my buddy ever since. He is super active and loves to play frisbee. I have always had a love for animals and being in the Veterinary field is always what I have aspired to do as a career. It is a field with many different aspects of opportunity and It is always a joy to come to work and help people and the 4 legged family members that they love. 🙂
Lauren is a Veterinary Assistant who has been with Animal Health Services since 2015. She started here as a kennel tech, and has worked her way up in the Urgent Care department. She is now attending school to earn her degree in veterinary technology and become a Certified Veterinary Technician. Lauren has previous experience in large animals from working with horse trainers and equine dentists, and has three dogs of her own named Shadow, Nala, and Waffles. She someday hopes to open a rescue to rehabilitate dogs who have been deemed aggressive and need some extra time, love, and care before being able to find a forever home.
Ashley Hanmer, Kennel Technician
Ashley began working at Animal Health Services in 2016. She is an avid pet lover and owner of a 3 year old Pitbull named Kobe like Kobe Bryant, the basketball player. After working with boarding facilities for 2 years, she joined AHS to eventually become a Vet Technician. Originally from Wisconsin, Ashley rides horses, likes football and loves hiking Arizona mountains. Her favorite trail is Black Mountain in Cave Creek.

Emily Beal, Kennel Assistant
Emily joined the AHS team in May 2017 as a Kennel Assistant. She attended U of A for one year with the intent to major in Veterinary Science, and is currently pursuing her Associates Degree in Science here in Phoenix. She has developed a passion for animals and is hoping to become a Veterinarian. Emily has two dogs at home; a Jack Russell Terrier and a Dachshund.
